Your church "Home"?

In our newcomers class here at Seacoast I hear this alot...
"We finally feel like we found our church home"

Just wondering. What does that look like to you? What makes a church "home"?

Seacoast Greensboro on the news

And thankfully it wasn't anything scandalous...unless you consider a bunch of people getting their financial lives redeemed back to God scandalous, then I guess it would be. Heres the video.

Living your Testimony

Ever feel like you don't have much of a testimony? Grow up in church and pretty much stay on the straight and narrow? I did, and at times am a little bit jealous of people with a really sensational story.

I know of people who were delivered from lives of drugs or violence, prison, horrible upbringings, homeless, family-less, the list goes on. Those are all awesome testimonies.

But maybe not having one of those testimonies is a great testimony too. Maybe God having his providential hand on your life from the beginning is also a great testimony.

Then again...what is a testimony? If it's your story, isn't your story still being written?

I have a friend who is a great Christian guy, loves Jesus and serves God. He has a great testimony of how he got to that point in his life. But right now he's going through a tough time.. To me, his testimony is ongoing. His story and his testimony will have grown on the other side of this tough time because of his faith. I cant wait to hear the addition to his testimony.

What if we all thought that way in the midst of tough times...always looking forward to our story growing and pointing to Christ? Wouldnt that change your attitude? How is your testimony growing and being added to?

Moose Lodge

Hit the road today for Mt. Pleasant to go to our monthly all-staff meeting. I decided to take a different route than normal that took a more rural route...just to see something different than Charlotte traffic for a change. God loves Charlotte I am sure, but I'd rather poke my eye with a sharp stick than drive through there at rush hour.

Passing through several small towns I noticed several local Moose Lodges. It never occurred to me before today, but.... what the heck do they do in a Moose Lodge? Almost anything I could envision would make me chuckle a little as I passed by. I had NO idea what was going on in there...and frankly don't want or need to. I am completely content in my ignorance.

Made me think...maybe this is how someone outside the church sees every church they pass on their way to work everyday. We in the church world think about what we do quite a bit and consider it pretty important. Do the guys in the Moose Lodge's feel that way too? People like me passing by certainly don't think theres anything important going on in there. What are we doing to compel the content to see a need for church to be a part of their life?
