Weekend reflections

This was an amazing weekend at Seacoast.

We were able to baptize 5 people this weekend during our service. I love doing baptisms during our response time. People being baptized while people sang "I called, you answered...and You came to my rescue" was a powerful visual of the grace of the gospel of Jesus. To me, this is the greatest miracle we can experience in church services. I believe in all the gifts of the spirit...but they are for believers. To see people who were at one point 'dead' come to 'life' in Christ and identify with the resurrection is the greatest miracle of the gospel and we got to see it first hand this weekend. And a bonus...we have members of our leadership team do baptisms now. I love seeing lay leaders involved in these things. Jon and Cory...great job. So proud of you guys!

Then a child dedication. I love doing these. I especially enjoyed this one as we dedicated Anna, daughter of a couple who Carrie and I were able to get to know and love through leading youth ministry. I never feel like we do dedications justice. I don't think we always consider the impact that this can have. Just like baptism, Jesus did it...so I think we should to...and place importance on it. I really believe that as we lay hands on that child and pray for them that they are set on a path of having spiritual guidance in their life that is going to have eternal impact. Brittany and Jason, you are great parents and thank you for the spiritual leadership you have established in your home by dedicating Anna to God. We are going to do our best to help!

Memorial Day was just a great day with my family who I love more and more each day. We hung out at the Arboretum then hit up Chuck E Cheese for some fun together. We wrapped up the day with some 'intense family fellowship', but sometimes we need that so that we can be reminded that we are all imperfect but desperately need grace in our lives for ourselves and for each other.

The day ended with sleep...and no dogs barking or policemen knocking on the door! As it should be...as it should be :)
